A founding principle
of the firm was that good lawyers are only as strong as the
community that surrounds them. Chapman Goddard Kagan strives
to embody this objective. The St. James Chamber of Commerce
(now the Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce) has been presided
over by lawyers from Chapman Goddard Kagan numerous times.
George Chapman Q.C., Alan Goddard and Donna Kagan are all
past-presidents of the organization and Al Jacksteit, a lawyer
with the firm, is the current president.
The firm has also been an active participant
in the St. James Village BIZ as we strive to enhance and guarantee
the continuing prosperity of our surrounding community.
The lawyers of the firm are also actively
involved in a wide variety of service organizations (such
as Rotary), charitable organizations, athletic associations,
artistic groups and other volunteer organizations. Our lawyers
participate in the community by doing everything from coaching
hockey teams to serving on the boards of large public organizations.
In addition to working within the
broader community, the lawyers at Chapman Goddard Kagan are
actively involved in the Manitoba and Canadian Bar Associations.
This participation helps to ensure that our lawyers are always
up to date on current legal trends and issues.
